: In a chilling premonition penned by Laya, a ninth standard student at Meppadi GHSS, her story "Agrahathinte Duranubhavam” (The Misery of Desire) in the digital magazine “vellaram Kallukal” seems eerily prophetic following recent tragedies in Mundakkai and Chooralmala.

Laya wrote the story when she was an eighth standard student at Vellarmala GVHSS. The story vividly describes the potential devastation caused by landslides and rising water near waterfalls. Those who read the story wonder if Laya intended it as a . warming. While Laya herself is safe.her loved once are not.

If it rains, landslides will rush down towards the waterfall, engulfing everything in their path, including human lives. Many people have died this way Laya wrote.

In the story, two friends, Anaswara and Alamkrita, sneak away to see a waterfall without their families knowing. A bird approaches the girls who are mesmerized by the water fall’s beauty and warns them to  leave immediately. As the children flee and glance back at the mountain, they witness rain cascading down one side, and the parrot transforming into a girl. In Laya’s story. It’s recounted that the bird appeared as a child named Amritha, who tragically perished after falling into the waterfall before.

“Leave, children here comes great danger” the bird urgently advises the girls in the tale.

There are two poems in the magazine that glorify the river, which is an integral part of the students' lives. Children described the waves and warmth of the river through their imagination.Experiences of life near the rever blossomed into stories and poems. Ironically, the rever itself, described by students with most beautiful words caused their deaths. At least a bird arrives with a warning for the girls in Laya’s story. Some readers perceive in Laya’s story an indication that nature warns of certain disasters. But did the people of Mundakkai and Chooralmala receive any warning before the real tragedy.
