'In Search of Life' - Vanaja Tatineni*
What must be found is never found.
One must go back and search again.
Sifting through a heap of memories,
Even if absentmindedly, one must search.
Until a trace is found, one must keep searching!
I must search for the 'me' I discarded long ago.
I just can't remember where I threw 'me' away.
You had barely walked four steps with me,
I had barely paused, weary,
When, drawn by the allure of distant hills' smoothness,
You lost your way.
The lamp was still in my hand.
The thread was still in my hand.
And yet, you lost your way.
Where in these forest paths should I search?
From this turn, I must go back
And search for the 'me' I discarded long ago.
I just can't remember where I threw 'me' away.
I must search for a lifetime.
You became a story in the saga of my sorrows.
And I became a good storyteller.
In the end, I must search for myself, at least in a story.

జీవితాన్వేషణ - వనజ తాతినేని
దొరకాల్సింది ఎంతకీ దొరకదు
వెనక్కి వెళ్ళి మళ్ళీ వెతుక్కోవాల్సిందే
గంపెడు జ్ఞాపకాలను జల్లెడ పడుతూ
అన్యమనస్కంగానైనా వెతుక్కోవాల్సిందే
ఆచూకీ చిక్కే వరకూ వెతకాల్సిందే!
ఎప్పుడో పారేసుకున్న నన్ను నేను వెతుక్కోవాలి
ఎక్కడ పారేసుకున్నానో ఎంతకీ గుర్తుకు రావడంలేదు
నాతో కలిసి నాలుగడుగులు నడిచావో లేదో
అలుపుతో నేనలా ఆగానో లేదో
దూరపు కొండల నునుపులు ఆకర్షణతో
నువ్వు దారి తప్పి పోయావు
దీపం నా చేతిలోనే ఉంది
దారమూ నా చేతిలోనే ఉంది
అయినా నువ్వు దారి తప్పి పోయావు
ఈ అరణ్యపు దారులలో ఎక్కడని వెతకను
ఈ మలుపు నుండి వెనక్కి మళ్ళి
ఎప్పుడో పారేసుకున్న నన్ను నేను వెతుక్కోవాలి
ఎక్కడ పారేసుకున్నానో ఎంతకీ గుర్తుకు రావడంలేదు
ఓ జీవిత కాలం వెతుక్కోవాలి
నువ్వేమో నా వ్యధల గాథలలో ఒక కథవయ్యావు
నేనేమో మంచి కథకురాలినయ్యాను
ఆఖరికి కథలోనైనా నన్ను నేను వెతుక్కోవాలి
ఎప్పుడో పారేసుకున్న నన్ను నేను వెతుక్కోవాలి.
